Roxy Rentals: đ The Happy Accident That Turned Into a Brandđ
Roxy Rentals didnât begin with a five-year plan, a logo, or a meticulously color-coded brand deck. It started with one house, a few half-baked ideas, and an âokay, letâs just try itâ attitude.
Like many great tales (and a few questionable decisions), ours began as a side hustle. One little house hack to help offset the mortgageâfueled by a love of bold design and an eye for the unexpected. We furnished it ourselves, listed it online, and crossed our fingers. Worst case? Weâd have a fun place for friends and family. Best case? Someone might actually book it.
Funny thing is, we originally planned to rent it out long-term. We had just moved into our second place in the suburbs, and the plan was to keep the original house as a rental. In Hadleyâs mind, it was simple: weâd move the furniture with us to the new place. But I remember standing there, looking around, thinking: this furniture doesnât belong thereâit belongs here. The vibe, the dĂ©cor, the entire feel of the space was made for this house.
So I made my pitch: What if we tried short-term rentals instead? We could keep everything as-is and rent it furnished. It was a new concept for usâand definitely outside of Hadleyâs comfort zone. He grew up in a family that knew long-term rentals inside and out. They did it well. But short-term? That was uncharted territory.
Still, to his credit, he said yes. (Maybe reluctantly at first.) And that one âsure, why not?â moment ended up changing everything.
Spoiler alert: people booked. And not just one someoneâa lot of someones. And they werenât just staying; they were raving. About the vibe, the details, the âwait, where did you get that rug?â moments. Guests were feeling something differentâand we were, too. So naturally, we asked the question that changed everything:
âWhat if we did it again⊠but even better?â
And just like that, Roxy Rentals was born. No blueprint, just big feelings and even bigger furniture deliveries.
From the jump, our goal wasnât to become some mega rental empireâit was to create experiences that feel good. The kind that make you say, âWait, can I live here?â (Yes. Some guests have actually asked. Weâre flattered.) Every space was a chance to create something thoughtful, joyful, and just a little bit extra.
As bookings grew, so did the brandâbut not in a buttoned-up, boardroom kind of way. We leaned into what made us different: bold design moves, high-touch hospitality, and little surprises that feel like a wink. We werenât following a playbookâwe were rewriting one.
Each new property became a fresh canvas: one where we got to experiment, refine, and sprinkle in a little more magic each time. Think boutique hotel quality with bestie-sleepover energy. Thatâs the Roxy Rentals way.
And while our footprint has grown, the heart hasnât changed. We still obsess over the small stuff. (Seriously, you should see how long we spend choosing throw blankets.) We still ask: How will this space feel to a guest? Whatâs the wow moment? Where will they sip their morning coffeeâor snap that golden-hour selfie?
This journey has been anything but traditional. But itâs been real, intentional, and built one stay at a time, by hand and with heart.
So whether youâve been riding with us since the OG property or just stumbled across us mid-scrollâwelcome. Youâre officially part of the story now.
And trust us⊠weâre just getting warmed up.đ«
