Roxy Rentals: The Happy Accident That Turned Into a Brand
Roxy Rentals didn’t begin with a five-year plan, a logo, or a meticulously color-coded brand deck. It started with one house, a few half-baked ideas, and an “okay, let’s just try it” attitude.
Like many great tales (and a few questionable decisions), ours began as a side hustle. One little house hack to help offset the mortgage—fueled by a love of bold design and an eye for the unexpected. We furnished it ourselves, listed it online, and crossed our fingers. Worst case? We’d have a fun place for friends and family. Best case? Someone might actually book it.
Funny thing is, we originally planned to rent it out long-term. We had just moved into our second place in the suburbs, and the plan was to keep the original house as a rental. In Hadley’s mind, it was simple: we’d move the furniture with us to the new place. But I remember standing there, looking around, thinking: this furniture doesn’t belong there—it belongs here. The vibe, the décor, the entire feel of the space was made for this house.
So I made my pitch: What if we tried short-term rentals instead? We could keep everything as-is and rent it furnished. It was a new concept for us—and definitely outside of Hadley’s comfort zone. He grew up in a family that knew long-term rentals inside and out. They did it well. But short-term? That was uncharted territory.
Still, to his credit, he said yes. (Maybe reluctantly at first.) And that one “sure, why not?” moment ended up changing everything.
Spoiler alert: people booked. And not just one someone—a lot of someones. And they weren’t just staying; they were raving. About the vibe, the details, the “wait, where did you get that rug?” moments. Guests were feeling something different—and we were, too. So naturally, we asked the question that changed everything:
“What if we did it again… but even better?”
And just like that, Roxy Rentals was born. No blueprint, just big feelings and even bigger furniture deliveries.
From the jump, our goal wasn’t to become some mega rental empire—it was to create experiences that feel good. The kind that make you say, “Wait, can I live here?” (Yes. Some guests have actually asked. We’re flattered.) Every space was a chance to create something thoughtful, joyful, and just a little bit extra.
As bookings grew, so did the brand—but not in a buttoned-up, boardroom kind of way. We leaned into what made us different: bold design moves, high-touch hospitality, and little surprises that feel like a wink. We weren’t following a playbook—we were rewriting one.
Each new property became a fresh canvas: one where we got to experiment, refine, and sprinkle in a little more magic each time. Think boutique hotel quality with bestie-sleepover energy. That’s the Roxy Rentals way.
And while our footprint has grown, the heart hasn’t changed. We still obsess over the small stuff. (Seriously, you should see how long we spend choosing throw blankets.) We still ask: How will this space feel to a guest? What’s the wow moment? Where will they sip their morning coffee—or snap that golden-hour selfie?
This journey has been anything but traditional. But it’s been real, intentional, and built one stay at a time, by hand and with heart.
So whether you’ve been riding with us since the OG property or just stumbled across us mid-scroll—welcome. You’re officially part of the story now.
And trust us… we’re just getting warmed up.💫
